Strings made of phosphor bronze were introduced to the market in the early 70's. They immediately became the most popular acoustic strings. The string is approximately 92% copper, 7% zinc and 1% phosphorus. Phosphor bronze provides a balanced sound and a pleasant and subtle overtone. The addition of phosphorus in the alloy provides increased resistance to string corrosion.
